Spring Carnival & Eggstravaganza

This annual event provides many activities including bounce houses, game booths, face painting, make & take craft stations, concession stand, Easter Egg Hunt for ages 10 and under, Easter Bunny Photo Op, and information booths. Please be sure to bring your child's own basket If you would like your child to participate in carnival activities, wristbands are available for $3 in advance at the Parks and Recreation office or $5 when purchased the day of the event.

Kids Day

There are many activities your children will enjoy. Tulare will be offering an exciting concert series this summer at the John Philip Sousa Pavilion in Zumwalt Park on Tulare Avenue, Tulare. All concerts are FREE to the public. A list of participating bands is listed below.

Movies in the Park

The Tulare Parks and Recreation Department invites you to join us at Del Lago Park to beat the Summer heat and enjoy a movie night of family. Come enjoy "G" rated movies on a 12' x 12' movie screen and sound system. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket. This is definitely a family affair! Movie titles have not yet been determined. This is a FREE public event..

Moo Mile 2017

Trout Fishing Derby

Come out and get your children and grandchildren involved in our annual fishing derby. They can win prizes and trophies for most trout caught and biggest fish. Pre-registration is encouraged at the Parks and Recreation Department, 830 S. Blackstone Street. See rules below for further information.

FEE                $3 per child or $5 the day of the event

You must provide your own fishing pole and live bait (or Power bait).

Trout Fishing Derby Rules

No hooks in the water before 8:00 a.m.
Only one pole per child in the water at one time.
Parents can help in the following ways ONLY:
•        Baiting the hook
•        Casting a line
•        Netting the fish
•        No double or treble hooks.
•        No lures or spinners are allowed.
•        Only trout will count as part of the stringer.
•        There is a limit of 5 fish per child. Largest stringers will be determined by total weight.
•        Fishing will end at 10:00 a.m. and the weigh in will begin.
•        Prizes awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd largest stringers in each age group, and a trophy for the overall biggest fish.
•        Age Groups: 2-7 years old and 8-15 years old
•        Remember: Character Counts!
•        HAVE FUN!


Our annual Outdoor Decorating Contest begins in November of each year. Nominate your neighbor, favorite business or yourself by December 13th. Please call our nomination hotline at 559.684.4314 and be prepared to leave the address of the home or business. Contest categories are: Best Decorated Residence, Best Decorated Business and Spirit of Tulare Award. Judging will be held December 12-15 and will be announced in late December.

Lights Contest 4


The Parks and Recreation Department is once again accepting letters from all the good boys and girls. They may write to SANTA and he will write back. Please submit letters to: SANTA, c/o Tulare Parks and Recreation, 830 S. Blackstone Street, Tulare, CA 93274. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Be sure to include a return address so your child will receive a letter back from Santa. Mail letters by no later than Friday, December 2.
