New Concussion Protocols went into effect January 1, 2017 which applies to athletes participating in youth sports organizations. in which persons 17 years of age and younger participate in baseball, basketball, bicycle motocross (BMX), boxing, competitive cheerleading, diving, equestrian activities, field hockey, football, full contact martial arts, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, parkour, rodeo, roller derby, rugby, skateboarding, skiing, soccer, softball, surfing, swimming, synchronized swimming, volleyball, water polo, or wrestling.

Parents, please read the Concussion fact sheet thoroughly. You will be asked to sign the
consent form for most youth   sports activities upon registration.

Afterschool Basketball

Students in grades 4th-6th are encouraged to join the Parks and Recreation Department's afterschool basketball league. Students attending any Tulare elementary school, including Sundale, St. Aloysius, Buena Vista, Oak Valley, and Palo Verde schools are eligible to participate in this program. However, practices are held on city schools campuses.

DATES              January 11 - February 23, 2018

FEE                   $30 per student by Wednesday, January 10, 2018

LOCATIONS     Alpine Vista, Cypress, Garden, Heritage, Lincoln, Maple, Mission Valley, Mulcahy, Pleasant
PRACTICES     Held on school campuses beginning from 3:30-5:00 pm. Each team practices two days (Tuesdays/
                          Thursdays) per week on school campuses. Roosevelt students will practice at Mulcahy and Los Tules
                          Tules students will practice at Heritage.
GAMES             Saturday mornings at Tulare Union Gymnasium on January 27, February 3, 10 and 17.
                          Final Tournament date to be determined at a later date.

The Parks and Recreation Department encourages Tulare's 4th-6th boys and girls to participate in our afterschool soccer league. GAMES             Held on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at Elk Bayou Soccer Complex.

Tulare Zoom Track & Field

This track and field program is held for youth ages 7-14 and will provide basic instruction on Saturdays from 9-10:30 am covering different events such as sprints, middle distance, shot, long jump, and hurdles. There is also an opportunity for your child to compete in their events (up to 4 events) at the track meet. We follow the AAU Age Divisions which are determined by YEAR of birth.

FEE                             $30 per child (includes race tank)
PRACTICE DATES    Saturdays beginning February 3, 2018, from 9-10:30 am (no make-up dates)
LOCATION                 Tulare Western High School Track, 824 W. Maple Ave.
